Notice of PUBLIC HEARING

for 

MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN BYLAW NO. 849-22

LAND USE BYLAW NO. 848-22

TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, S.A., 2000, as amended, the Council of Lamont County proposes to adopt a new Municipal Development Plan and a new Land Use Bylaw for the County.

Bylaw 849-22: The purpose of this new (draft) Municipal Development Plan is to guide future development in the county over the long term. The existing Municipal Development Plan, Bylaw 674-07 including all amendments, will be repealed upon adoption of the new plan. 

Bylaw 848-22:  The purpose of this new (draft) Land Use Bylaw is to divide the County into Districts, prescribe and regulate for each District the purposes for which land and buildings may be used, establish a method of making decisions on applications for development permits, including the issuing of development permits and the way notice is given. The existing Land Use Bylaw 675-07 including all amendments, will be repealed upon adoption of the new land use bylaw.

Copies of these proposed Bylaws may be viewed by the public at the County Office in Lamont during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Copies of these documents are also available on our website at www.lamontcounty.ca under the heading “Public Hearing”.

A Public Hearing will be held to provide an opportunity for members of the public to speak to Council on the proposed bylaws commencing at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Lamont Recreation Centre and via TEAMS. Written submissions are highly encouraged and may be provided to Council during the Public Hearing, however, it is requested that a copy of the written submission be delivered to the County Office, attention to the Legislative Services Officer, by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, to ensure that each member of Council has a copy of the written submission for the Public Hearing.

Speaking at the Public Hearing: Members of the public who wish to address Council are encouraged to register in advance. This helps ensure you will be heard at a specific time.  People who do not register to speak in advance will be heard when time permits either during the meeting or at the end of the meeting. Presentation Time: Each presenter will be allotted 10 minutes to speak. Deadline to register is 4:00 p.m., August 11, 2023. The names of persons providing comments will become part of the public record.
