Fire Ban - Lamont County (April 25)

FIRE BAN Due to dry conditions Lamont County Emergency Services has issued a fire ban, effective immediately.  No open fires or burning are allowed in campgrounds or in any other area within the County, no exceptions.  ALL FIRE PERMITS ARE SUSPENDED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY Propane Barbeques will be allowed for cooking purposes only. And MUST be attended to at all times while in use.

Notice of Roadside Spraying and Mowing

Notice of Roadside Spraying - #LamontCounty and/or designated contractors are applying herbicide targeting noxious weeds and brush regrowth along road allowances in Zone 2 beginning June 1.

Spraying will be focused in these areas, but includes selective spot-spraying of noxious weeds throughout the County. If you are a certified organic producer and wish to apply for a “No Spray” agreement prior to May 15, contact Lamont County Agricultural Services at (780) 895-2585. Reminder: with this agreement, weeds and brush in front of your property must be controlled before July 15. #ASB #Weeds

Roadside mowing is also scheduled to begin on June 1. A Hay Permit is required to hay County roadsides. Anyone with an intent to cut hay along any #LamontCounty right-of-way adjacent to their property must first apply, and receive approval, for an annual permit by June 1. Permits are only valid from July 1 – August 1, and hay must be baled and removed within seven days of cutting.
