Brush Pile Burning Permits Suspended

Due to extremely low precipitation in recent months, Lamont County Council has authorized Emergency Services to suspend issuing new brush pile & demolished building burning permits effective immediately (March 10, 2021). All currently approved brush pile and demolished building burn permits will be suspended effective March 15, 2021.

Lamont County only allows the burning of brush piles between November 1 and April 1 of each year under current policy. Suspension of both brush piles & demolished building permits earlier than the annual ban will help reduce the risk of a spring wildfire caused by late-burning piles.

Additional fire bans or restrictions are not currently in place; however, if dry conditions continue into spring, a fire ban/restriction will be considered. Residents are advised to use extreme caution with any burning at this time.
