FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Lamont County Values its Volunteers with Successful Appreciation Events
May 12, 2025 – LAMONT, AB: Lamont County values its volunteers with appreciation events recently held and supported through Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and across all municipalities—including the Towns of Bruderheim, Lamont and Mundare; the Villages of Andrew and Chipman; and the Hamlets and Localities within Lamont County.
“It is important to take time to recognize the many volunteers we have within our communities,” said Sara Rindero, Lamont County Community Services Manager. “Volunteers are extremely valuable to help residents enhance their daily living and support opportunities for recreation and engagement. These events are a good way for communities to show they care and to recognize the efforts made and the impact volunteers have.”
Facilitated by Lamont County Community Services—which includes FCSS Lamont County Region, the Kalyna Family Resource Network Lamont County Region (KFRN), and the Lamont County Community Adult Learning Council (CALC)—free tickets for residents to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinners are available each year to recognize the impact volunteers have across Lamont County—these events are typically held during Volunteer Appreciation Week/Month (April). This year’s entertainment featured local country musician Travis Dolter at events held in Lamont, Bruderheim, Andrew and Mundare. This year’s theme was Volunteers Make Waves!
Major sponsors this year included Volunteer Alberta, Cenovus Energy, and Enbridge Inc. Without this assistance, many of these events would not be possible. Lamont County and Lamont County FCSS are grateful for this support.
This year was well attended, in fact, with 105 in Andrew, 78 in Bruderheim, 118 in Lamont, and 96 in Mundare—approximately 400 volunteers were represented across the County.
“Volunteers—like a small pebble—create a dimple, a ripple, then a full WAVE of kindness,” said Board Chair FCSS Lamont County Region, Carol Lynn Babiuk. “You selflessly give your time, energy and gestures to clubs, churches, organizations, and others in the community. Thank you!"
Feedback from attendees included that they enjoyed the performances and the meals and were truly thankful for the event and taking the time to recognize them. Many of the survey respondents are already looking forward to next year! Participants also really enjoyed the performances by Dolter.
