Fire Ban - Lamont County (April 25)

FIRE BAN Due to dry conditions Lamont County Emergency Services has issued a fire ban, effective immediately.  No open fires or burning are allowed in campgrounds or in any other area within the County, no exceptions.  ALL FIRE PERMITS ARE SUSPENDED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY Propane Barbeques will be allowed for cooking purposes only. And MUST be attended to at all times while in use.

Clubroot Policy Updated

Please be advised that Policy 6056 (Control of Clubroot Disease in Canola) has been updated, specifically Procedure 5 which now reads:

5. The notice will prohibit the growth of canola, mustard, or cole crops for a period of 3 years with a positive test.
a) Areas that have been prohibited from growing canola can be seeded in year 4 with a Clubroot resistant variety subject to the approval of the producers Clubroot Management Plan;
b) Producers Clubroot Management Plan shall be developed with consideration to the Alberta Clubroot Management Plan which is attached to and forms a part of this policy;
c) Only a clubroot resistant variety of canola shall be grown on the adjacent lands of the sanctioned portion of field within the quarter section;
d) Any land sown back to Cole crops contrary to the above guidelines may be destoryed as per the Agricultural Pests Act.
