Located 35 minutes east of Edmonton on Highway 15 is a community that settlers once called the “nicest open country a person could wish for.”

Lamont has a variety of events throughout the year that appeal to everyone. The Bull A Rama takes place at the new rodeo grounds at the end of April. The Town of Lamont hosts Picnic in the Park every June in Hillside Park with bouncy houses for the kids and free food. Take in the Lamont Community Fair and 3rd annual Perogy Festival, also in June. In July, the Lamont Agricultural Society (LAS) hosts the Lamont Summer Sizzler Rodeo, providing fun for all ages. Don't miss the combine crunch, rodeo, bench show, and fireworks.

The Town of Lamont is proud to be the host community for Lamont County’s 5th Annual Baba’s & Borshch Ukrainian Festival on August 26-27. Read all about it on the inside front cover. To round out the year, the Lamont Community Christmas Light Up is a huge winter festival celebrating the holiday season with activities and entertainment. Kids are sure to love the Christmas lights.

Lamont is the gateway to Elk Island National Park which provides numerous activities including golfing, hiking, cross country skiing, and wildlife viewing. Known for its massive herds of bison, travelling through Elk Island National Park is like going on a prairie safari. In the Town of Lamont itself you can find Hillside Park. Take a stroll in the park, fly a kite on top of the massive hill, have a picnic, or enjoy the spray park and playground. You can also visit the Mohyla, a monument at the edge of town which marks the centenary of Ukrainian settlement in Canada, or go fishing in the Lamont Trout Pond — both are located a few minutes north of the town.

Lamont is a bustling community with a full range of services including accommodations, dining, and shopping to make your stay a pleasant one. Be sure to visit Elk Island Thrift Store while on the Go East Antique Tour. Plan to stay in downtown Lamont at Archie’s Motel with kitchen units available.
