“To access and provide funding to assist the town libraries in the provision of library service to residents within Lamont County”, that is the mission statement of the Lamont County Library Board. Established in 2007, the initial function of the Board was to access municipal and provincial funding to be distributed among our four local libraries in Andrew, Bruderheim, Lamont, and Mundare. Without a county library, county residents relied on the town and village libraries to provide this service.
In 2013 Lamont County Council moved to accept the services of the Northern Lights Library System and approval was granted by the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Mr. Doug Griffiths. As of January 1, 2014, Lamont County residents have access to all the resources and services offered to member libraries through Northern Lights Library System. County residents are able to join the Metro Kalyn Community Library in Bruderheim, the Mundare Municipal Public Library, Lamont Public Library or Andrew Municipal Public Library without having to pay a non-resident fee. Proof of residency is required.
The Lamont County Library Board strives to be a strong advocate for libraries and support the library needs of its residents. Meetings are held at the County Administration Building on a regular basis and the public is welcome to attend.
