Lamont County's Agricultural Service Board is pleased to note that the County will continue its participation in the Alberta Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture (AESA) program for the period 2005-2007. AESA is a provincially funded and industry directed program whose purpose is to encourage a balanced, integrated approach to the environmental problems facing the agricultural industry (for more information, visit the AESA website. For Lamont County, this entails collaborating with neighbouring Beaver County to hire a full-time employee who will develop and administer programs designed to address agricultural issues specific to ratepayers in both Counties. In August of 2004, Aimee Boise was hired as the Municipal Conservation Technician for the Beaver/Lamont County AESA program. Her primary focus at first was to become familiar with the issues in the Counties by completing a needs assessment and then develop a three-year program plan to address those issues. Full funding has been secured from the Alberta Government to carry out the program over the next three years. Aimee can be reached at 780-663-3730 (Beaver Office) or at 780-895-2585 (Lamont Office – by leaving a message). Her e-mail is aesa@beaver.ab.ca. |
