Lamont County is the municipality of the future offering a centrally located land base that is zoned for Heavy, Medium and Light Industrial uses. Our County is actively encouraging increased development in the designated industrial zones. Land designated for industrial and commercial development is located in a prime spot adjacent to Highway 15 and 45, twenty kilometres east of Fort Saskatchewan - a mere forty five minutes from Edmonton. In addition, there are a number of different sized land tracts available throughout the County on lower agricultural land. This land can be used for commercial and industrial uses on a discretionary basis with approval from the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC).

Lamont County's economic strength is based on its diversification in three major sectors:

Agricultural value added industries include farm equipment sales/service, fuels and fertilizers, livestock products/services, grain handling and hauling facilities. Major employers include Agricore United, Pioneer Grain and NBI Feedyards.

 Lamont County is home to current and proposed major industrial facilities. Major companies include: Canexus Chemicals Canada LP, Hazco Environemental, Triton Fabrication Inc., Maxim Deerland. Lamont County has extensive pipelines as well as gas and oil activity.

Independent businesses operating in Lamont County include a broad range of retail products, consumer services, restaurants and construction products/services.
