2009 Farmstead Beautification Awards On August 7, 2009, Lamont County Agricultural Service Board held its annual Farmstead Beautification Awards. The award recipients and County representatives toured around Lamont County visiting the yards of residents who have put in a lot of time and hard work into their attractive yardsites. Lamont County would like to recognize the following recipients for their hard work and dedication put into beautification of their yards.
2009 Winners:
Division 1 Acreage Recipient – Joe & Caren Bilyk
Division 1 Farmstead Recipient – John & Cathie Chomiak
Division 2 Farmstead Recipient – Pat Tomkow
Division 3 Farmstead Recipient – Marshall & Jean Weleschuk
Division 4 Farmstead Recipient – David & Mavin Kolotylo
Division 5 Farmstead Recipient – Julian & Joannie Lopushinsky

Producer Workshops: Lamont County ASB holds 1-2 producer workshops per year. The locations and subject matter are tailored to agricultural issues currently facing our County producers. Check back often for news of the next producer workshop.
Farmer’s Appreciation BBQ: The ASB Department once again hosted a Farmer’s Appreciation BBQ to recognize the hard work and effort put forth by our County producers. Last year’s BBQ was a tremendous success with over $250 raised and donated to the Lamont Club District 4-H. This year’s BBQ was held in conjunction with the Premier’s Open House on September 7.

Farmstead Beautification Awards: Every year the ASB Department hosts a Farm Beautification Awards Tour in August. County Councilors select an outstanding farmstead in their division to receive the award and jointly select one acreage in the County to also receive an award. If you know of a farmstead that deserves this award, please let your Councilor know. The winners of the 2008 Farmstead Beautification Awards are as follows:
Division 1: Wayne & Pat Warawa
Division 2: Marvin & Deb Maiko
Division 3: Ken & Royanne Hewko
Division 4: Lorne Lamash
Division 5: Stewart, Angela and Audrey Maschmeyer
Acreage: Denis Vanbrabant & Fiona Farrell
Poster Contest: The ASB Department held a photo contest this year for all County residents. There were 132 submissions. The ASB wants to see the County through the eyes of its residents, and we encouraged everyone to submit a photo. This was a fun contest geared towards amateur photography where residents got out their cameras and submitted their best pictures.

The winners of the Agricultural and Industry category were Carol Cunningham, first place; Stephanie Leslie, second place; and Wendy Hennig, third place. The County Life category winners were Wendy Hennig, first place; Gloria Walton, second place; and Janice Vandelannoite, third place. Lamont County Agricultural Service Board would like to congratulate the winners of the 2007 Photo Contest and thank everyone that sent in photographs.
