Early Steps to Success

Ever wonder how our kids are doing???

Want a picture of how Lamont County children are developing?

Kindergarten teachers throughout the province completed the EDI (Early Development Instrument) for kindergarten children to see how they are doing developmentally. The Early Steps to Success Coalition has formed in conjunction with the Early Child Development Mapping Project to improve awareness of children ages 0-6 in Lamont County. The Early Child Development Mapping Project (ECMap) was contracted by Alberta Education for a five-year period (until August 31, 2014) to conduct research on early childhood development in Alberta and build community coalitions to respond to local needs. EcMap is part of the Government of Alberta’s Early Child Development (ECD) Mapping Initiative. The Initiative will provide families, service providers, educators, communities and policy makers with a picture of how young children in Alberta are doing, so that they can work together to support healthy development.

EcMap is made up of a group of agencies and individuals that have expertise in, and a passionate commitment to, early childhood development in Alberta. It is led by the Community-University Partnership for the Study of Children, Youth and Families (CUP), which is based in the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta.
